WHO IS DARK SLAYER
For those of you that have not yet had the chance to discover the books of Dark Slayer, I hope that this site will give you a chance to be introduced and, ultimately, enjoy her adventures. For those of you that have already sampled the books, keep your eyes on the news page and don't forget to tell everybody else about the books!
Once upon a time, a long time ago, it was 1978 and all I ever set out to do was to write a book that I would enjoy reading. It was a dream that the book would ever get completed and that it would ever end up on my bookshelves. Many years on the dream became a reality and now I hope that many others will enjoy them.
In 1978 things were simpler. There were no computer games (no computers indeed), no CDs, DVDs and a luxury to be ahead of the times with an early video recorder.
There was more time for comics and books, more time for imagination and to live in the fantasy worlds of our youth later helped by the then little known game of Dungeons and Dragons.
The first story, A Night of Dark Death, was written in August 1978 on an old manual typewriter. The intention was to do no more than create a story that I would like to read and the initial concept of the character, at that time, was almost as a sword wielding superhero. Fortunately she quickly evolved from that idea to become a character that the readers of J.R.R Tolkien, Robert E Howard’s Conan and Burroughs Warlord of Mars among many others will find enjoyment of.
The Dark Slayer is Lady Jacquelyne Van Dyne, a beautiful adventurer who has carved a legend for herself in a world of sword fighting, fantastic creatures and magic.
Six foot tall with golden blonde hair and bright blue eyes she is strikingly beautiful but also intelligent and blessed with far more than her fair share of common sense.
Many words and pictures followed her creation and she has appeared in many college, university and comic based fanzines over the years in both comic strip and story formats.
Her first commercially published book, The Mystic Queen – The Coming of the Slayer was released in February 2006 published by DSC Publications.
Her adventures take her from the modern world of the late twentieth century into a strange land that reminds her of simpler times of history, where knights still wear armour, damsels are still in distress and taverns still have straw on the floor. To all intents she has arrived in the Middle Ages except that here there be dragons and magic!
Read and enjoy!

"It was then he saw her.
She was tall, tall as many a man he had met and, from her pose, every inch a warrior.
She was beautiful, of that there would have been very little doubt wherever she was. Blonde hair that reached to her shoulders, with a single black streak at the front, framed high arching eyebrows that gave her a look that was almost regal and most certainly mysterious. Her whole appearance instantly stood her apart from anything he had seen before.
The clothes she wore were nothing like Yazd had seen before, a blood red body suit, tight fitting all over her body and laced up the front showing more than most women would have considered decent in public. Yet it was clear that this was no slave girl that stood before him.
With the costume she wore black gloves and boots and across her back was buckled a scabbard for the broadsword that she held firmly in her left hand.
Slowly the woman's head turned to look him in the eyes, her own eyes seeming to be two great blue fires that looked into his very soul."
